Cruze fans cruise into Lordstown

LORDSTOWN — Fans of the Lordstown-built Chevrolet Cruze have driven in from all over the country for the annual CruzeTalk.com event that brings Cruze enthusiasts to the site where the car is built.

Today, participants toured the General Motors plant where the car is assembled and gathered at the United Auto Workers Local 1112 hall.

People came from as far as Hawaii, Canada and Massachusetts, and many described the event as a family reunion of sorts.

Participants said they love the car because it’s reliable and unique. Many make modifications to the car to put their own spin on it.

“It’s a reliable car. It gets good gas mileage. I think it’s a good-looking car,” said Krysta Stonier of Tiffin.

Stonier drives a 2011 Cruze. She has modified the engine, lowering it, and added a spoiler.

Leaders of UAW Local 1112 said they’re always happy to host the CruzeTalk.com group.

“We love having them every year. We look forward to it,” Tim O’Hara, Local 1112 vice president. “It’s always great to let people see where the car they bought is assembled.”

“When you make a product, and you see people like your product, it gives [you] a sense of pride,” said Dave Green, Local 1112 president.
