ASSOCIATIONS

Buckeye Travelers, Mahoning Valley Chapter of Gold Wing Road Riders Association, will meet Saturday for dinner at 5 p.m. and a gathering at 6 at Dino's Restaurant, 10941 Mahoning Ave., North Jackson. All motorcycle riders are welcome.

Mahoning Retired Teachers Association will meet June 13 at Drake's Landing, 2177 W. Western Reserve Road, Canfield. The social hour will begin at 11 a.m., and lunch will be at 11:45. The meeting and program will follow. Susan Harris will preside. Dr. Jay Brock from the Cleveland Clinic will discuss advances in cancer treatment and research. The community service collection will benefit the Potential Development Center. The menu will include grilled chicken salad or the buffet lunch of pot roast, mashed potatoes with gravy, roasted veggies, tossed salad, rolls and dessert. All area educators are invited to attend. First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown Luncheon Speaker Series will present the Rev. Nathan Castle, O.P., at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at The Georgetown in Boardman. Castle, who resides on the campus of the University of Arizona in Tucson, is a teacher, preacher and workshop facilitator. DANCES

Friendly Squares will host its monthly square dance from 7:30 to 10 p.m. June 9 at the Niles Scope Center, 14 E. State St., Niles. Ed Pabst will be the caller and Frankie Hammond will be calling line dances between the tips. This will be a high/low dance with tips for new and experienced dancers. Youngstown South Christian Women's Connection will meet for the "Oh! The Sun Shines Bright" luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 13 at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 W. Western Reserve Road, Canfield. Guest speaker will be Lori Kempton, of Fairfield Township, as she presents "Change Happens." There also will be a fashion show by Chico's and music by Leighan Wells. SUPPORT GROUPS

Alzheimer Network Family Support Groups will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Easter Seals Adult Day Center, 721 Boardman-Poland Road, Boardman. Family members and caregivers are welcome to attend. All meetings are offered at no charge. For information, call 330-788-9755.

NAMI Mahoning Valley offers support and education to people and families dealing with serious mental illness. Support groups are as follows: Connection, a group for individuals with a mental health diagnosis, meets the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at 6 p.m. at Alta Care Building, 142 Javit Court, Austintown; every Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Community Center, 1344 Fifth Ave, Youngstown; every third Thursday at 1 p.m. at Madison Commons, 741 Madison, Youngstown; and the first and third Mondays at 6 p.m. at Madison Commons, 741 Madison, Youngstown. This group is specifically for individuals dealing with substance abuse and mental illness. Family Support, a group for family members of a person with mental illness meets every first Thursday at 11 a.m. at Girard Library, 105 E Prospect St., Girard; and every second Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Alta Care, 142 Javit Court, Austintown.
