Playhouse unveils season with ‘Pippin,’ ‘Funny Girl’

The Youngstown Playhouse’s 2018-19 season will include two recent Broadway revivals – “Pippin” and “The Elephant Man” – and a musical adaptation of the 1980 film “9 to 5.”

The season will close with “Funny Girl,” the 1964 Broadway musical that launched Barbra Streisand.

The South Side theater’s annual Griffith-Adler Actors Series, which offers edgier fare in the intimate Moyer Room, will include the two-person character study “Annapurna,” the outrageous comedy “Women in Jeopardy!,” a holiday show in “A Tuna Christmas,” and “Broadway in Color,” a retrospective of African-American musical theater.

Youth productions will include Robert Louis Stevenson’s “Treasure Island” and “Robin Hood.”
