A night of comedy returns to Papa’s

CAMPBELL

The Comedians of Local Interest will return to Papa’s Puerto Rican Foods, 284 12th St., at 8 p.m. Saturday for a night of comedy. Admission is $5 (one drink minimum) at the door. This is an 18 and older event.

Performers will include the host, Lil V; plus Carlos Rivera, Missy Rentas, Flaca and Malcom Floyd.

Simply Slavic fest seeks volunteers

Simply Slavic festival organizers are seeking volunteers to for the June 16 event in downtown.

Volunteers of every age, skill and ability are welcome. Help is needed for everything from set up and take down to ticket sales and assisting in children’s areas. Various three-hour shifts are available. Every volunteer gets free admission, two soft drink tickets and a complimentary invitation to the volunteer banquet in August. Dinner-theater show of ‘Emperor’s’

The Oakland Center for the arts will present a dinner theater production of the musical “The Emperor’s New Clothes” on July 6, 7, 13 and 14. Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m., and the show at 7:30 p.m.

Dinner-theater tickets are $20; show-only tickets are $10.

Avicii’s funeral will be private

NEW YORK

The family of late Swedish DJ-producer Avicii says his funeral will be private.

In a statement released Tuesday, Avicii’s family says the funeral will include “people who were closest” to the performer. The family also asked the media to respect their decision.

They added that no more information about the funeral will be made public.

Avicii, born Tim Bergling, was found dead last month in Muscat, Oman, at age 28. He retired from touring in 2016. He had in the past suffered acute pancreatitis, in part due to excessive drinking. He had his gallbladder and appendix removed in 2014.
