Fowler Township woman injured in Sunday night crash

FOWLER TOWNSHIP — Arlene Hofius, 77, of Fowler Township suffered serious injuries Sunday night after her car became disabled on the edge of state Route 305 as she was backing out of a private driveway and was struck by another vehicle.

Her car was spun around, and she was ejected.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol's Southington Post is investigating the 10:45 p.m. crash, which also caused minor injuries to the driver of the second vehicle, Amanda Gramlet, 25, of Fowler Township. Both women were taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

Huffus was backing out of a driveway when her car's back wheels dropped off of the roadway and became stuck partially on in westbound lane. Gamlet was traveling westbound in her 2014 Mazda CX-5 when it struck Hofius' 2017 Chevrolet Camaro, the patrol said.

Hofius was not wearing a seat belt; Gramlet was wearing a seat belt.
