NCNW to host Women of Distinction luncheon

The Youngstown Section of the National Council of Negro Women Inc. will host its sixth annual Women of Distinction Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Holiday Inn Boardman.

The event honors women who demonstrate the values of Mary McLeod Bethune, who founded the NCNW in 1935, and Dorothy Height, former NCNW national president, in serving their communities.

This year’s honorees are Margie Staples, co-owner of Charlie Staples Restaurant, and Rosalyn Hill, owner of 5 Grand Fashions LLC.

Luncheon committee members are Edna Douglas, Kristy Gore, Denisha McGee, Evelyn Ross and Yvonne Wilson. Angela Pickett is the president of the Youngstown Section.

The speaker will be Judge Carla Baldwin of Youngstown Municipal Court. Angela McCoy will be the musical guest.

Meetings take place the second Saturday of each month at the McGuffey Centre in Youngstown.
