First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown Luncheon Speaker Series will present the Rev. Nathan Castle, O.P., at 11:30 a.m. May 31 at The Georgetown in Boardman. Castle, who resides on the campus of the University of Arizona in Tucson, is a teacher, preacher and workshop facilitator. Friends of the Mahoning River will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Oak Hill Collaborative, 507 Oak Hill, Youngstown. Parking is in the rear of the building. Plans are being made for the Second Annual RiverFest on June 2 that will take place at the B&O Station in Youngstown, and a Friends paddle on the Mahoning River set for June 9. DANCES
Friendly Squares will host its monthly square dance from 7:30 to 10 p.m. June 9 at the Niles Scope Center, 14 E. State St., Niles. Ed Pabst will be the caller, and Frankie Hammond will be calling line dances between the tips. This will be a high/low dance with tips for new and experienced dancers. Adult Book Discussion Group will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Quaker meeting room of Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St. "The Underground Railroad" will be the book to discuss. POLITICAL CLUBS
Trumbull County Republican Party will host its monthly breakfast at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Buckeye Club, 366 N. Park, Warren. There will be a full-course buffet breakfast. Cost is $12, which includes tax and tip. Guest speaker will be Sarah Fowler, Ohio Board of Education member from the 7th District. Youngstown South Christian Women's Connection will meet for the "Oh! The Sun Shines Bright"; luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 13 at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 W. Mahoning County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Charles Church ministry building, 7325 Westview Drive, Boardman. The program will be "Sharing Family Members Military History." There also will be election of officers to be installed at the next meeting. William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at Kravitz’s Deli meeting room, 3135 Belmont Ave., Liberty. Speakers will be Benjamin Lariccia and Constance Tarr, on the pioneer Trumbull County Coalburg Italians, as part of the Memories of a Lifetime lecture series.
