McDonald (15-5) scored both of their runs in the first inning to knock off top seeded Mathews. Rachel Ward was the winning pitcher, striking out 10. Megan Ward led the Blue Devils offense with three hits, two of them being doubles. Mathews pitcher Addy Jarvis struck out 15 in a losing effort and Ashley Dean had two hits. McDonald will play Bristol at 5 p.m. today for the district championship at Candlelite Knolls.
