Liberty police seek man accused in assault


LIBERTY — Police issued a warrant for a Liberty man after a woman said he punched her, attempted to run her over with a car and pushed her three children out of a vehicle Monday just after midnight near the 1400 block of Townsend Avenue.

The woman said the suspect was intoxicated but driving her and her three children home, and during the ride he punched her in the face, according to a police report.

The victim told police she got out of the car to avoid being hit again and walked toward her home.

The suspect caught up and pushed her children out of the car, including an infant who was strapped in a car seat. The car seat fell on its side from the suspect pushing, the report said.

The victim eventually got her children in their apartment, but when she came back to the road to grab her possessions that were pushed out of the car, the suspect attempted to run her over, the report said.

The suspect faces felonious assault and domestic violence charges.
