WARREN

The Grace African Methodist Episcopal Church, in conjunction with Trumbull County African American Achievers Association and Warren City Health District, is having its eighth annual Health Fair on the Square from noon to 3 p.m. June 2 on Courthouse Square downtown.

The event includes numerous free health screenings, HIV testing, stroke risk assessment, blood pressure screening, heights and weights, children’s identification kits, and health information and education. Free bicycle helmets provided by the Ohio Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Put a Lid on It grant program, will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, and there will be a drawing for 15 lap-top computers for children entering grades 8-12 during the 2018-19 school year. To be eligible for a lap top, students must have their most current report card or be able to access progress book; have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 and be accompanied by a parent or guardian who completes a “coverall on the health bingo card. There is also a drawing for 20 bicycles.

Healing center awards

WARREN

The Wound Healing Center at Trumbull Regional Medical Center earned two nationally-recognized awards for excellence in 2017 from the Center of Distinction and the Robert A. Warriner III, M.D., Center of Excellence by Healogics.

The Wound Healing Center achieved patient satisfaction rates over 92 percent and a healing rate of at least 91 percent in less than 30 median days to heal for a minimum of two consecutive years, and outstanding clinical outcomes for 12-consecutive months in 2017.

The Center offers specialized, outpatient care for non-healing wounds, including negative pressure wound therapy, bioengineered tissues, biosynthetic dressings, growth factor therapies and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Shepherd job fairs

Shepherd of the Valley is holding job fairs on Tuesday and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Shepherd of the Valley Boardman, 7148 West Blvd., Boardman, and at Shepherd of the Valley Niles, 1500 McKinley Ave., Niles, at which open interviews will be conducted for nurses and aides.
