Assault weapon again being fired at vacant home in Youngstown
YOUNGSTOWN
Police early today collected seven casings from an AK-47 style assault weapon after hearing gunfire on the South Side.
Reports said officer Jacob Short was on patrol about 12:25 a.m. on Southern Boulevard near Market Street when he heard several gunshots, then was notified by the 911 Center of a gunshot sensor call in the 200 block of East Philadelphia Avenue.
When Short arrived, witnesses said someone in a white SUV was shooting at a vacant home. It was the second time within a week the SUV was in the neighborhood and someone inside it was firing a weapon at the home, reports said.
Officers found seven 7.62mm casings and a .40-caliber shell casing, reports said. A home in the 2800 block of Rush Boulevard also had a bullet hole in it. No one was injured.
