ASSOCIATIONS
American Association of University Women Youngstown Branch will meet at St. John's Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., Youngstown, at 10 a.m. Saturday. The meeting will begin in the church parlor on the ground floor of the parish house. Refreshments will be served, and veteran church tour guides William Farragher and Emma Jones will relay bits of history of the church. Then, the two will lead tours of the sanctuary. Tri-Gold Prime Time Chapter of ABWA will host its main meeting Wednesday at A La Cart Catering, Canfield. The Tri-Gold Prime Time Chapter is the combination of two chapters, the Gold Torch Chapter and the Tri-County Chapter. A social will take place at 5:30 p.m., and dinner will follow at 6. Cost is $18. CLUBS

Stitches in Time is a Salem Public Library club open to anyone who knits, crochets, cross-stitches or any other similar type of crafting. The meetings take place the third Wednesday of each month to work on projects. The next meeting will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the library’s Quaker Room, 821 E. State St., Salem. COUNCILS
Youngstown Council of Catholic Nurses will meet at noon Wednesday at The Manor, 3104 Canfield-Niles Road, Austintown. The speaker will be Barbara Turner, Mercy Health nursing director of the sexual-assault board. She will address sex trafficking.
Youngstown Chapter of the National Council of Negro Women Inc. will host its monthly meeting Saturday at the McGuffey Centre, 1649 Jacobs Road in Youngstown. The executive board meets at noon and the general meeting is at 1 p.m.
GROUPS
Adult Book Discussion Group will meet at 7 p.m. May 22 in the Quaker meeting room of Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St. “The Underground Railroad” will be the book to discuss. World War II Interest Group will meet at 6:15 p.m. May 21 at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. Lou Mamula of Struthers will be the guest speaker. LIBRARY FRIENDS
Friends of the Boardman Library will meet at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the library, 7680 Glenwood Ave., for refreshments. The program, "Writing Childrens' Books" will begin at 10 a.m. and will be presented by Hugh Earnhart. Hostesses will be Beverly Yurcisin, Doris Almasy, Renee Cole, and Irene Parker. Guests are welcome. The public is encouraged to donate books, magazines, CDs and DVDs with the profits helping to support the summer reading program. Donated items are collected from 10 a.m. to noon on the first and third Saturday of each month.
POLITICAL CLUBS
Trumbull County Republican Party will host its monthly breakfast at 9 a.m. May 19 at the Buckeye Club, 366 N. Park, Warren. There will be a full-course buffet breakfast. Poland Historical Society has changed the meeting location and time to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Poland Township Park, 7400 Moore Road, Lowellville (Poland Township), in the pavilion near the playground. A program about the history of the park will take place at 6. Guest speakers, Mike Heher and Ken Filicky, will speak about the development of the park, present activities offered there and future plans to continue the growth of the park. William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society will meet at 10 a.m. May 19 at Kravitz’s Deli meeting room, 3135 Belmont Ave., Liberty Township. Speakers will be Benjamin Lariccia and Constance Tarr, on the pioneer Trumbull County Coalburg Italians, as part of the Memories of a Lifetime lecture series. The event is open to the public, with complimentary refreshments served. Admission is $6 for nonmembers and $5 for members. A 50-50 raffle will take place. NAMI Mahoning Valley offers support and education to people and families dealing with serious mental illness.
