In Boardman, Warren JFK’s Armand Nannicola, Lakeview’s Jake McDivitt and Ursuline’s Austin Arfaras have punched their tickets to districts and will play in the semifinals on Saturday. The Irish’ Greg Morgione will play Lakeview’s Hunter Dickson in the quarterfinals today. At Struthers, Lakeview and Ursuline each have to pairs qualify for Districts. Sean O’Connor and Luke Tsudis and Gavin Blacksher and Josh Khavari are representing the Irish. John Silbaugh and Ryan Carnahan and Steven Pavlik and Blake Gould are representing the Bulldogs.

Late Tuesday
In Canton, Canfield has one singles player and two doubles pairs in contention for spots in district play. Tim Cianciola cruised into the quarterfinals by besting Dover’s Shawn Cruise and Alliance’s Sam Denny by scores of 6-0, 6-0 in each match. Cianciola has the No. 1 seed in the quarterfinals. Canfield’s Sirin Nalluri and Ben Martin also hold the top seeds in doubles play. Rajan Taneja and Noah Zoldan hold the No. 4 seed. In Solon, Warren Harding’s Alex Payiavlas advanced to the quarterfinals unseeded as did the Howland tandems of Michael Awadalla and Marc Snitzer and Connor Tamarkin and Kevin Moamis.

CANFIELD
Canfield Jack Rafoth pitched 42/3 innings and got the sectional semifinal win. Anthony Longo had two hits and four RBIs, including a bases loaded double, for the Cardinals. Dom Pilolli had three hits and three RBIs, Spencer Woolley had three hits and two RBIs and Ian McGraw had two hits and drove in a run. For Alliance, Seth Scott had two hits. Canfield will play Cardinal Mooney on Tuesday in the sectional finals.

BELOIT
Reed McCreery, Braeden O’Shaughnessy and Alex Barth each had two RBIs for Poland. Mike Masucci and MJ Farber each added two hits. Matt Sperati picked up the win for the Bulldogs. TJ DeShields was 2 for 5 with a double and a triple for West Branch. Poland will face Niles on Tuesday.

GIRARD
Marco DeFalco struck out eight and limited the damage of five hits and six walks. Luke Swauger hit a double and Nick Guarnieri had three RBIs for the Wildcats. Nick Malito and Matt Miles each had two hits for Girard. Niles faces Poland in a district semifinal Tuesday.

Crestview pitcher Tyler Hurd allowed three unearned runs and struck out six in the complete game. Jeff Feo had three hits and two runs scored for the Rebels. Keith Berger and Dylan Huff hit doubles. The Rebels travel to Rootstown today for a sectional final. No stats were reported for United.

Zach Fahs struck out five in a complete-game win for Columbiana. He also hit two doubles and had five RBIs. Joe Bable and Chase Franken each added a double. Columbiana plays Canton Central Catholic today.

Lydia Spalding struck out 14 and allowed just two hits. She also went 3 for 4 with three singles and two RBIs. Lainie Simons hit a grand slam and Kayla Kelty, Ashley Fuller, and LeeAnna Franken each contributed a single. Fitch travels to Solon today.

Emma Wukelich and Ruthie Sandberg both scored for the Eagles in a sectional semifinal. Jackie Adler allowed four hits and a walk while striking out seven in a complete game. Ravenna’s Hannah Welling allowed two runs on four hits and struck out 10 in a complete game. Shae Barlow went 2 for 3 for Ravenna. The Eagles will play Cardinal Mooney in a sectional final today at Fields of Dreams.

Layla Woolf struck out seven and walked one in a complete game in the Blue Devils’ district semifinal win. Woolf also hit a single and a three-run home run in the sixth inning. Alyssa Serensky and Arianna Gregorino each had a double and an RBI for Western Reserve (10-10, 5-8 MVAC). Lowellville’s Isabella Sotlar had two singles.

BROOKFIELD
Brookfield pitcher Gabby Schiska struck out five in a two-hit shutout in a sectional final. Schiska had two hits and two RBIs. Bailey Drapola had two hits, including a double, for the Warriors. Lordstown pitcher Bri Wilson allowed eight hits and two walks while striking out a pair. Brookfield will play Bristol on Tuesday in the district semifinal.

VIENNA
Addy Jarvis struck out 16 while conceding two runs on three hits and a walk. At the plate, she hit two doubles. Olivia Vaupel had three hits, including two doubles, for the winning side. Mathews will face McDonald on Tuesday.

MCDONALD
Bri Callow hit a three-run home run and struck out three in three innings of relief work for McDonald. Megan Ward hit a solo home run. Rachel Ward struck out four as the starter and had a single and a double at the plate. MaKenzie Stelich took the loss for Maplewood. McDonald has Mathews on Tuesday.

Jenna Troxil homered and had three RBIs and Chloe Cruz doubled and singled, scored three runs and drove in three in the Cardinals’ victory. Kalin Kovach doubled and singled and scored three runs and KaiLi Gross singled twice and drove in four runs for Canfield (15-8, 8-1 AAC Red). Gross (12-5) worked four innings and struck out five. Howland (6-14, 2-7) was led by Bailee Benson, who had three hits.
