Robins Theatre project offers sponsor a seat refurbishment program

The Robins Theatre renovation project is offering everyone the chance to own a little piece of the venue by sponsoring the refurbishment of a seat.

The downtown theater, which has been abandoned for decades, will have close to 1,500 seats. Each seat sponsorship will be $289.

To sponsor one, go to robinstheatre.com, or stop by the Sunrise Inn, 510 E. Market St., downtown, on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Sponsors can select their own seat. Before and after photos of the restoration will be on display.

Every aspect of each seat – frame, paint, wood, upholstery – will be refurbished before they are returned to the theater, which is set to reopen in 2020.

Seat sponsors can commemorate a friend, a family member, an organization, a special occasion, a business, or just leave their mark on the historic theater. A metal plaque with a three-line inscription will be permanently affixed to each seat. Seat sponsorship is not a reservation of the seat for future events; event tickets must be purchased separately.

The seat sponsorship campaign is offered by the Friends of the Robins Theatre Foundation.
