HomeGoods purchases another Lordstown property

LORDSTOWN — The village’s zoning and planning commission will again consider a request by HomeGoods Inc. to rezone residential land to industrial at a meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

“The only thing on the agenda is HomeGoods,” said Mayor Arno Hill.

The meeting follows the announcement Friday by HomeGoods that the company intends to again pursue plans to develop a $160 million distribution center in the village after previously backing away from the proposal.

Hill said to his knowledge the company’s plan is the same as it was when it was originally presented to the commission. That proposal met with outcry from some village residents who have protested the use of residential land for the project.

In other HomeGoods-related news, Trumbull County Auditor records indicate the company on Friday purchased one of the seven parcels of land it on which it intends to build.

Records indicate a property at 2547 Hallock Young Road was purchased by HomeGoods for $250,000 from Bertha Kaloci.

Earlier last week, the company purchased another Hallock Young property.
