Junior Civic League celebrates Founder’s Day
The Junior Civic League recently hosted its Founder’s Day celebration to commemorate the vision of its first members. Special guests included founder members Geneva Mason and Juanita Williams. Mason was the first president of the JCL, and Williams served as president while an active member. Sustaining members also in attendance included Doris Bullock, Edrice Clark, Anne Cobbin, Betty Scott, Molly Seals and Elsina Winston. Seals, past president and sustaining member, was the speaker. She emphasized the fiduciary duties and responsibilites of each member and the importance of continuing the group’s traditions. The purpose of the JCL is to create an interest in the health, educational and civic affairs of the community in order to promote better understanding, with volunteerism being one of the major objectives.
