Mr. and Mrs. Pompeo will be honored in June

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Pompeo of Poland will be honored in observance of their 60th wedding anniversary at a family dinner in June.

The couple’s children are Gina (Don) Gossick, Troy, Mich.; Julie (Neil) Bell, Winter Springs, Fla.; Albert (Darlene) Pompeo, Poland; and Joseph (Lisa) Pompeo, also of Poland. They also have nine grandchildren.

Mr. Pompeo married the former Anna Vaccariello on June 4, 1959, at St. Nicholas Church in Struthers.

Mrs. Pompeo was a seamstress for Moyers Pants Factory and The Garment Center in Youngstown until she retired in 2000. She taught catechism for 30 years, and played bocce and was part of a bowling league.

Mr. Pompeo was a pipe fitter for LTV Steel until he retired in 1986. He was an area umpire for 50 years and a member of the Pacentrano Club, St. Anthony Club and Bocce and Morra leagues.

The couple are members of Holy Family Church in Poland, where Mr. Pompeo has served as an usher.
