Shooting victim has 'very serious' wounds

Police said a man who was shot about 6:25 p.m. Thursday in the first block of North Pearl Street suffered "very serious" wounds.

The man was shot in front of a vacant home and taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. He was shot several times, said Lt. Doug Bobovnyik of the detective bureau.

Police are looking for a red SUV in connection with the shooting. Bobovnyik said investigators do not yet know why the victim was in the area.
