Archery shoots

Hubbard

The Hubbard Conservation Club, 1760 Wick Campbell Road, will have a 3-D archery shoot from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday.

Cost is $10 per course for adults and free for children 17 and younger.

Regular shoots start Friday, and continue June 2 and 3. Cost is $10 per course for adults and $5 for youths.

State qualifiers will take place June 9 and 10, with a $25 entry fee, but the shoot is open to nonqualified attendees at regular prices.

Youth Day

Western Reserve Fish & Game, 1058 W. Third St., will have a free Youth Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Youths age 9 to 17 are encouraged to visit. No experience is needed. Activities will include archery, crossbow and air guns. All equipment and safety gear will be provided. Participants may bring their own equipment. Lunch is included. All activities will take place in the club’s indoor facilities. Parents and guardians are invited to participate.

Youth Day

Western Reserve Fish & Game Club, 1058 W. Third St., is having a Youth Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Participants will get to shoot bows, crossbows, air rifles and air pistols.

The program is free through a grant provided by the Ohio Division of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife. Age limit is set for middle-school and high-school students. Parents who decide to stay will be invited to participate as well.

State park beaches to be open for dogs

COLUMBUS

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources announced that beaches in state parks throughout Ohio will be open as dog recreation beaches through May 18.

Dogs under control of their owners that are in the designated “dog exercise areas” are allowed off their leashes while the designation is in effect.

In Northeast Ohio, participating state parks are: Findley State Park, Geneva State Park, Guilford Lake State Park, Jefferson Lake State Park, Lake Milton State Park, Mosquito Lake State Park, Portage Lakes State Park, Punderson State Park, Pymatuning State Park and West Branch State Park.

On May 19, the parks will resume regular operating rules.

Sign up is at 6 p.m.; shoots are at 7. Cost is $2 per shot (shells provided).

Ladies firearm class

Vienna

The Fish & Game Club of Vienna, 1508 Youngstown Kingsville Road, is having a ladies firearm class from 5:45 to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays starting May 15.

The class will run for eight weeks and qualifies participants for a concealed-carry permit.

The class also includes hand-to-hand defense and personal protection, and a law-enforcement officer will speak on the laws concerning guns.

Cost is $75 and includes 50 rounds of varying calibers of pistols.
