Boy Scout Troop 25 chartered to Canfield United Methodist Church recognized Scouts and adult volunteers at the recent Winter Court of Honor in Fellowship Hall at the church, located at 27 S. Main St. in Canfield.

The Winter Court of Honor honors the Scouts who have earned rank advancements, merit badges and other awards in Scouting since the Fall Court of Honor.

After a dinner recognizing the 108th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America and the 92nd anniversary of Troop 25, everyone was welcomed by the Troop Scoutmaster, Kevin Prus, Sr. who served as Master of Ceremonies, and the Court of Honor was opened by the troop’s color guard.

Scouts recognized that evening and their recognitions are: Steven Canton - Scout Award; Marshall Corwin, Jr. - Scout Award; Steven Deak - Star Award and First Aid Merit Badge; Owen DiRenzo - Tenderfoot Award; Joshua Farley - Life Award and Citizenship in the Community Merit Badge; Andrew Hamilton - Tenderfoot Award; Cade Henry – Tenderfoot Award; Trevor Hykes - Citizenship in the Community, Citizenship in the Nation, Citizenship in the World and Family Life Merit Badges; Jacob Kolar - Scout Award; Thomas McNally III - Life Award and Citizenship in the Community, Family Life, First Aid and Personal Fitness Merit Badges; Tanner Tsvetkoff - Citizenship in the Community, Citizenship in the Nation and Citizenship in the World Merit Badges and Edward Wires-Scout Award.

John Heino, the Order of the Arrow (OA) Troop Representative for the troop gave an update on the Marnoc lodge – Order of the Arrow activities of the lodge and the upcoming OA Troop Elections.

One highlight of the evening was the awarding of two special Troop 25 awards. The Troop 25 2017 Herman West Most Active Scout Award and the Troop 25 2017 Jimmy Jones Outstanding Scout Award. Both awards for 2017 were awarded to John Heino, who serves the Troop as Senior Patrol Leader.

Troop 25’s upcoming calendar includes Advancement Camp in March, participation in the Mill Creek MetroParks Earth Day cleanup and a camping weekend for BTM Clays in April, fishing camp and the Canfield Memorial Day Parade in May, Wright Patterson Air Force Base Air Museum in Dayton in June, the Canfield Fourth of July Parade and Summer Camp in July at Seven Ranges Scout Reservation in Kensington, a canoeing trip in August and the Canfield Fair to end the summer.

Troop 25 meets every Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. in the basement of Canfield United Methodist Church, located at 27 S. Broad St. in Canfield.
