STRUTHERS

Vince Armeni had two hits for the Irish (2-0), including the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth. Joel Kreuzwieser struck out eight in six innings, giving up a run on five hits and a walk. Dan Yoder pitched the seventh for the save.

Canfield 8, Louisville 1

LOUISVILLE

Jack Rafoth pitched four innings, striking out four, giving up two hits and one run to earn the win. Anthony Longo pitched two innings striking out four.Ian McGraw pitched a perfect seventh, striking out two. Offensively, the Cards were led by Longo who had three hits and an RBI, Angelo Petracci with two hits and a double, Spencer Woolley with a double and two RBIs, and Alex Hernandez with two hits. Nick Ieraci and Jimmy Fitzgerald also doubled for Canfield.

Girard 9, Poland 8

GIRARD

Trailing 8-7 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Girard (1-1) scored twice for a two-out walk-off win. Girard’s Austin Claussell and Nick Malito had three RBIs each. Poland had six errors. Poland’s Cole Kosco went 2 for 4 with three RBIs. Girard’s Matt Miles picked up the win after pitching a scoreless seventh inning. Matt Sperati pitched five innings for the Bulldogs and allowed six runs, four earned, and struck out 10.

Liberty 4, LaBrae 2

LEAVITTSBURG

Despite mustering four hits — none of which came after the third inning — Liberty (2-0, 1-0 All-American Conference Blue) made its four runs stand up. Christian Kijowski and Dwight Parker each hit RBI-singles for the Leopards. Trevor Strohmeyer struck out two, walked three and gave up two runs on three hits. Alex Hluadi picked up the save. Bane Sprague threw four no-hit innings for LaBrae (0-1, 0-1).

Niles 5, Edgewood 3

NILES

Ken Flanigan knocked home two runs and Joe Gallo had an RBI-double for the Red Dragons. Marco DeFalco gave up two runs despite not allowing a hit in 5.33 innings. He walked six and struck out 13 for the winning side.

Boardman 12, Howland 0

BOARDMAN

Evan Knause was 3-for-3 for the Spartans (1-0), hitting two doubles while collecting four RBIs. Cameron Kreps added a double, scoring two runs and getting three RBIs. Alex Cardona struck out four, walked three and gave up two hits for a five-inning shutout win. Dylan Keller had both of Howland’s (0-1) hits, with one being a double.

Springfield 3, Waterloo 1

NEW MIDDLETOWN

The Tigers opened their season and league play with a victory. Shane Eynon won in relief, striking out four and walking for while giving up an unearned run in the game’s final three innings. Eynon also had three hits at the plate. Brandon Walters had two, hits, including a double and Brandon Brungard had two RBIs for the Tigers (1-0, 1-0). Matt DeAngelis and William Wise each had one hit for Waterloo.

Champion 14, Warren JFK 0

NILES

Drake Batcho and Andrew Russell combined to pitch a 16-strikeout performance for the Golden Flashes at Eastwood Field. AJ Meyer went 2-for-4 at the plate. Noah Gradishar had two hits and two RBIs. For the Eagles, J. Edmandson doubled.

Bristol 6, Campbell 0

BRISTOLVILLE

Gage Elza struck out eight and walked three to get the win for the Panthers.

West Branch 10, South Range 2

BELOIT

The Warriors scored six runs in the sixth inning to clinch the win. TJ DeShields struck out six and gave up two runs on nine hits. At the plate he had two hits and scored two runs and two RBI. Seth Schroeder added three hits for the winning side. Mike Cunningham had two hits and knocked home a run for South Range.

Rootstown 7, Western Reserve 0

BERLIN CENTER

Rootstown pitchers Cameron Miller and Adam Beery combined for the two-hit shutout. Miller got the win. He pitched four innings and allowed one hit and two walks. Rootstown (1-0) scored five runs in the sixth and seventh innings to put the game out of reach. Dom Velasquez pitched for scoreless inning for Western Reserve (0-1). Dan Windham and Brycen Jackson got the only hits for the Blue Devils. Rootstown’s Jacob Caruso had one hit, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Mathews 13, McDonald 1

MCDONALD

Mathew’s Andy Miller hit a three-run double in the in the bottom of the first to ignite a seven-running inning for the Mustangs (2-0). Dillon Canter drove in two runs for the Mustangs. Jackson Iceman got the win for Mathews. No McDonald (0-1) stats were provided.

Jackson-Milton 20, Southington 0

NORTH JACKSON

Sebastian Lay, Joseph Williams and Luke Campbell combined to toss a five-inning one-hitter. Campbell and Frankie Prozy tripled. Nicholas Rich’s three hits included a double. Williams had three hits and scored four runs. Prozy also had three hits. For the Wildcats, B. Barnhart singled.

East Palestine 5, Columbiana 1

COLUMBIANA

Justin Hooley struck out 10 in seven innings, giving up one run and one hit for the Bulldogs (1-0, 1-0). Brock Cheurco had a two-run single and Cameron Wicherman hit a double and scored two runs. Ryan Fahs had the only hit for Columbiana.

East Palestine 5, Columbiana 1

COLUMBIANA

Joey Bable and Ryan Fahs had hits for the Clippers (0-1, 0-1 Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference). Chase Franken (0-1) struck out eight in five innings.

LISBON

Winning pitcher Logan Bell (1-0) struck out 11 and allowed four hits. Cameron Summers and Blake Reynolds had two hits and Summers drove in two runs for the Blue Devils (1-0). B. Reynolds and C. Summers each had two hits. For the Eagles (0-1), Parker Hydrick had two hits.

Ursuline 15, Padua Franciscan 1

YOUNGSTOWN

Winning pitcher Jordyn Kenneally (1-0) struck out four and walked none, allowing one hit in four innings. Gia Caldrone’s three hits included two doubles for the Irish (1-0). Destiny Goodnight’s two hits included a homer and Julia Nutter’s two hits included a double. Also with two hits were Maris Barbato, Emma Ericson and Emily Holland. Goodnight drove in three runs while Caldrone, Nutter and Holland each had two RBIs.

Cardinal Mooney 10, McDonald 1

BOARDMAN

Kayla Rutherford struck out 15 and tossed a two-hitter for the Cardinals (1-0) at the Fields of Dreams. Mooney scored six runs in the first inning. Rutherford hit a solo homer while Maddie Filisky hit a two-run homer. Gia DiFabio and Catie Perry each had three hits. Conchetta Rinaldi and Rutherford each had two hits. For McDonald (0-1), Hannah Donkers singled.

BEAVER TOWNSHIP

Maggie Moore’s two hits included double for the Falcons (1-0). Sheridan Wilber homered and singled. For the Raiders (1-1), Bree Kohler and Marlaina Slabach had hits. Kohler (1-1) stuck out 10.

AUSTINTOWN

Shae Thomas homered and drove in two runs for the Leopards (1-0). For the Falcons (0-1), Lainie Simons had two hits and Kayla Kelty one.

SALEM

Sydney Kline’s seventh-inning single scored Hannah Kelm with the winning run. Bailee Thorn’s three hits included a homer and a double as she scored twice. Alyssa Laubacher and Hayden Carner each had hits for Salem. Taylor Thorpe (1-0) struck out 14 in tossing a two-hitter. For the Wildcats, M. Smith tripled and L. Vukovich singled.
