Staff report
YOUNGSTOWN
In preparation for its eighth annual Simply Slavic festival June 16, organizers are seeking authentically Slavic retail, craft, fine art and food vendors.
The festival, now in its eighth year, takes place on East Federal Street downtown from noon to 11 p.m.
Simply Slavic has vending space for 15 food vendors and 10 marketplace vendors, who will provide a variety of Slavic merchandise and foods.
Many of the festival’s regular vendors return each year; therefore those applying for the first time might be placed on a waiting list. Openings will be filled according to the date of application and the need for variety at the event.
The confirmation deadline for previous vendors is April 10. Applications from new vendors will be accepted after this date, but questions are welcome at any time; contact Dave Slanina at 330-509-0754 or dave@simplyslavic.org
The festival was created in 2011 to educate the region’s large number of Slavic descendants, as well as the entire community, about Slavic heritage. It features live Slavic music, folk dance performances, homemade food, children’s learning areas, educational exhibits/workshops and ethnic vendors.
Simply Slavic has developed an active regional, national and international following throught its website, simplyslavic.org.
