The Youngstown Flea will host “Movers + Shakers: A Community Meetup for Creatives” at The Soap Gallery, 117 S. Champion St., from 6 to 9 p.m. today. Featured speakers will be Bergen Giordani of One Hot Cookie, Matt Campbell of Branch Street Coffee Roaster, Melissa Smith of 1820 House Candles, Dennis Schiraldi of DOYO Live, Marisa Sergi of RedHead Wine and Deanna Fusillo of SassyGirl Media. Additional guest invites include Youngstown Mayor Jamael ‘Tito’ Brown and city councilman Julius Oliver. Billed as a provocative and candid meet-up for dreamers, doers and entrepreneurs, the event hopes to give creative people the practical tools and outside-of-the-box inspiration to achieve their goals. Church to be site for Pedals, Pipes and Pizza

Youngstown State University and Youngstown AGO will present Pedals, Pipes and Pizza Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 30 W. Front St., Youngstown. This is a workshop designed to introduce middle- and high-school students to the pipe organ. The workshop is free to attend. Doors open at 9:30 a.m., and parking is available across the street from the church. The workshop will take place from 10 to 11:30 with local organist Sean Baran demonstrating the pipe organ. There will be a pizza party from 11:30 to noon followed by a recital by Baran from noon to 1 p.m.

Women’s league to host annual fundraiser

The GFWC Ohio Austintown Junior Women’s League will host its annual “A Taste of Austintown” fundraiser at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4490 Norquest Blvd. Vendors will offer tastes of their food or drinks for guests to sample and vote on. There will be dancing, a 50-50 raffle, basket raffle and more. Cost is $30 and tickets can be purchased from any member. Senior living facility to host Easter egg hunt

Brookdale Austintown, 1420 S. Canfield-Niles Road, will host an Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday. The party begins at 10 a.m. with face painting, food and pictures and hunt begins at 11.

Lions club will award scholarships

Boardman Lions Club will award two $1,000 scholarships in the spring to two graduating seniors who are residents of Boardman and will be attending a four-year college to pursue a bachelor’s degree. Additional requirements include a minimum grade point average of 3.0, 30 hours of community service per year from the sophomore year on, two recommendations and a personal essay. Recipients will be selected by the scholarship committee based on academic success, volunteer service and award recommendations. Awards will be announced at the time of graduation. Book fair to benefit children’s hospital

Barnes and Noble and Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley have partnered to host an Easter-themed book fair from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Barnes and Noble, 381 Boardman-Poland Road. Proceeds will benefit the Akron Children’s Hospital’s Reach Out and Read program. When checking out, customers will be asked to show support by using a coupon code (#12332219), which applies a percentage of the sale to the local hospital.

The code can be used online or in any store across the United States. There also will be an Easter egg hunt at noon along with other kid-friendly activities throughout the day. Reach Out and Read is a national program dedicated to fostering the development of early literacy skills among children as a standard part of pediatric primary care. Barnes and Noble has been a partner of Akron Children’s since 2008. In that time, they’ve provided the hospital with more than $25,000 in monetary donations and new books.

Singer-songwriter to perform at GCC

Grove City College will welcome Nashville-based singer-songwriter Andrew Peterson for a show at 9 p.m. Friday in Crawford Hall auditorium. His next record, “Resurrection Letters, Vol. 1,” is set for release March 30.

Wampum Wine and Beer Festival planned

The Wampum Area Revitalization Committee will host its Wine and Beer Festival from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Wampum gymnasium, 372 Main St. Regional craft beer and wine makers will be present to offer tastings and products. Food and appetizers will be provided by the LCCTC Restaurant Trade Program directed by Jennifer Price and live music will be featured by Frankie. Library to show movie

The film is about a wheelchair-bound photographer who spies on his neighbors from his apartment window and becomes convinced one of them has committed murder. Trivia and light refreshment provided.
