SPORTS DIGEST || Pikunas makes an ace for Akron golf team

WILLIAMSBURG, VA.

Akron freshman Jacinta Pikunas –; a Boardman High graduate – made a hole-in-one and led the Zips in scoring after 36 holes in the Kingsmill Resort Intercollegiate on Monday.

Pikunas led the Zips’ scoring with rounds of 70 and 76 on the par-72, 6,025-yard River Course at Kingsmill Resort. Pikunas is currently in a five-way tie for second place. Her ace came in the first round on the 157-yard No. 5.

In addition, Pikunas dropped a hole-in-one during Sunday’s practice round on the 150-yard No. 2.

Today’s final round begins with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
