Women in police, fire departments is lecture topic

Youngstown

In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Mahoning Valley Historical Society will presents “Sisterhood in Blue: Trailblazing Women of the Youngstown Police and Fire Departments.”

The free presentation will take place Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., downtown.

Participants will learn of the struggles and successes of some of the first women to serve as police officers and firefighters in the city. The event will include stories from Delphine Baldwin Casey, Sue Centorame, Wanda Cordero, Anita Davis, Sharman Simon, Marcia Harris, and about the late Sharyl E. Frasier-Everett.

Model train show and sale scheduled

SALEM

A model train sale and show will take place March 23 from 1 to 7 p.m., and March 24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Salem Center Plex, 1098 N. Ellsworth Ave.

It will feature manufacturers, clinics, operating layouts and a model contest. All scales and gauges will be available.

Military collectors show at Lakeland

KIRTLAND

The Lakeland Historical and Militaria Collectors Show will come to Lakeland Community College, 7700 Clocktower Drive, Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m..

The event, which will be in the Athletic and Fitness Center Main Gym (off state Route 306) will include uniforms, weapons, medals and decorations, helmets, documents, books, military aviation art, signed prints, World War II memorabilia, and many related items from American and foreign wars.

Admission is $5 ($3 for students and veterans and active military with identification). The show is in conjunction with the Lakeland Police/Fire/EMS Collectors Show. The admission fee covers the cost of both events.
