BOE addresses district expense report
YOUNGSTOWN
Youngstown City Schools Board of Education members spent nearly two hours going over nearly every purchase on a district expense report.
When board members Jackie Adair and Dario Hunter argued over a $1,000 pizza order for students and parents, Treasurer Sherry Tyson said it’s a regular district practice that helps local businesses.
“It sounds like spreading money around to various business,” Hunter said. “It’s a great way to buy friends.”
Still, Tyson said: “It’s insignificant.”
But Adair said it is not insignificant to board members.
“Every dollar, every penny, being spent – personally I feel being spent unwisely – needs to be addressed,” she said.
The board has a regular meeting at 5:30 p.m. today at East High School, 474 Bennington Ave.
