ASSOCIATIONS

Tri-Gold Prime Time Chapter of ABWA will host its monthly meeting Wednesday at A La Cart Catering, Canfield. A social will take place at 1:15 p.m., and lunch will follow at 1:30. The menu includes creamed chicken over biscuits, Swiss steak, parsley potatoes, peas and carrots, tossed salad, ice cream with syrup and coffee and tea. Cost is $18. Women of the Year will be announced at the anniversary meeting in April. Articles for the basket auction that will take place in September will be accepted at all monthly meetings. COUNCILS

Youngstown Section of the National Council of Negro Women Inc., will meet at noon Saturday at the McGuffey Centre, 1649 Jacobs Road, Youngstown. Executive board meets at noon and the general meeting will take place at 1 p.m.

DANCES

The Friendly Squares will host its monthly square dance from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Niles SCOPE Center, 14 E. State St., Niles. Gene Hammond will be the caller and Frankie Hammond will be calling line dances. This will be a high/low dance with alternating tips for new dancers currently taking lessons and tips for more experienced dancers. Dress is casual and light refreshments will be served. LIBRARY FRIENDS

Friends of the Boardman Library, 7680 Glenwood Ave., will meet at 9:30 a.m. Monday. The program begins at 10 and will be presented by Chris Kenney and the subject is McKinley Monument. Hostesses will be Cindy Cunningham, Sandra Cunningham, Sue Fusselman and Patricia Beede. Guests are welcome. The public is encouraged to donate books, magazines, CDs and DVDs. Profits will help support the summer reading programs. Donated items are collected from 10 a.m. to noon the first and third Saturdays of each month.

Boardman Historical Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at Boardman Library, 7680 Glenwood Ave., Boardman. Sean T. Posey, local author and historian, will be the guest speaker. He will discuss his newest book, “Historic Theaters of Youngstown and Mahoning Valley.” The program is part of a new series of BHS public offerings. Admission is free. Reservations are suggested. Alzheimer Network Family Support Group will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2305 S. Codependency and Grief Support Group will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the care center of the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home, North Main St., Hubbard. The support group was formed to reach out to help families who have lost loved ones to alcohol or substance abuse.

Good Hope Lutheran Church, 98 Homestead Drive, Boardman, will host a 13-week grief support series through the GriefShare ministry from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays through May 1. The GriefShare team provides a safe, understanding place for individuals to move through their personal grief journeys. Participants need not be church members. Each session is self-contained, so participants may enter at any session. Each session will include videos featuring some of the nation’s foremost experts on grief recovery. Sessions also include small group support and a workbook for personal study. Participants are welcome to share stories, but are never forced. Attendance at consecutive sessions is encouraged for maximum benefit. Cost is $20. Checks should be made payable to Good Hope. Scholarships also are available at registration. NAMI Mahoning Valley offers support groups for those who deal with mental illness. Support groups meet as follows: Girard Family Support, first Thursday of each month at 11 a.m. at the Girard Library, 105 E.
