The Waltons honored for 70th anniversary
YOUNGSTOWN
Jack and Betty Jean Walton of Youngstown, recently celebrated their 70th anniversary with a family gathering at home.
The couple’s children are Janiece D. Sesser of Columbus; Jack K. (Vivian) Walton II of Arlington, Va.; Julie A. (Gary) Marks of Phelps, N.Y.; James K. Walton of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; Jeanne L. (Steven) Rigler of San Diego; and Jefferson L. (Renee) Walton of Wallkill, N.Y.
The Waltons also have 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Walton and the former Betty Jean Marsh were married June 12, 1948, at First Baptist Church in Kansas City, Mo.
Mrs. Walton is a homemaker and was a member of the PTA at Kirkmere School, Volney Rogers Junior High School and Chaney High School while her children attended. She is a member of Ivanhoe Chapter 244, Order of the Eastern Star, in Kansas City, and the Saxon Club in Austintown.
Mr. Walton retired as a manager from General Foods Corp. in Boardman in 1983. He served in U.S. Air Force during World War II in the central Pacific. He is a member of the Saxon Club and the Scottish Rite of Mahoning Valley as a 32nd-degree Mason. He also was chairman of Troop 144 of Boy Scouts of America at the Saxon Club for 27 years.
The couple are members of Christ Church Presbyterian, where Mrs. Walton has served as a deacon and chairman of the former Sarah Esther Circle, and Mr. Walton served as a trustee and usher.
