The Boardman William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society has announced the Memories of A Lifetime program calendar for the second half of 2018.
All programs are open to the public, begin at 10 a.m. and take place at Kravitz’s Deli Meeting Room, located at 3135 Belmont Ave. in Liberty Township. Members pay $5 and non-members pay $6.
Reservations are suggested and walk-ins are admitted based upon seating availability. Complimentary refreshments are provided and entertainment is by Dolores DePietro.

Upcoming events include: July 21 - Allan May, author of “Crimetown U.S.A.: History of Mahoning Valley Mafia” and “Welcome to the Jungle Inn: The Story of the Mafia’s Most Infamous Den,” speaks on local organized crime; Aug. 18 - Shirley Eckley, McGuffey family descendent and president of the William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society, will recall the legacy and local roots of “America’s Schoolmaster;” Sept. 15 - John Marino - “Who Killed the Packard?” - Packard Museum Board of Director, will discuss the many factors that ended the famous Warren luxury automaker; Oct. 20 - Senator Joe Schiavoni, Ohio State Congressman, will share his memories of growing up in Mahoning Valley, his boxing career, his life in politics and his recent run for the governorship; Nov. 17 - Lou Zona, Butler Gallery of Art Director, will recollect a career in the arts, including days as a Youngstown State University professor and his role in expanding “America’s First Museum Dedicated to American Art;” Dec. 15 - Thomas Leary, YSU Professor of History, will reveal how de-industrialized communities remember industrial heritage and the challenges and successes such efforts have experienced.
