1993: Dr. Raymond E. Dye, a former vice president for student affairs at San Francisco State University, is named to the same position at Youngstown State University by the board of trustees.

1968: Ten of Mahoning County’s local school districts probably won’t meet state minimum standards for 1968 if they remain independent, says W.C. Smith, county superintendent. Only Austintown and Boardman would meet state standards.

Vandals using Molotov cocktails started three fires,causing $2,100 damage to Holy Trinity Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church on Laird Avenue. The church has been vacant for three years, the result of dissension within the church.
