Canfield student to tour Europe with orchestra
CANFIELD
Canfield High School student Rachel Beil recently received a clarinet spot with the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra. She is one of four clarinet players. COYO is a nationally-acclaimed youth orchestra and will be touring Europe in the summer of 2019.
Society to offer display
MCDONALD
The Historical Society of McDonald will have a special display for visitors during the Village Homecoming Festival. The display will be in the Community Room next to the post office and will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. The display will feature mannequins dressed as McDonald fire, police and mill workers as well as other memorabilia. Free and open to the public.
Museum to host guided bus tour
CORTLAND
The Sutliff Museum, as part of its Underground Railroad Tours, will host a bus trip to Cleveland July 29. There will be stops at St. John Episcopal Church and Woodland Cemetery during the guided tour. The bus will depart from Walmart, 2016 Millennium Blvd., at 8:30 a.m. and will return by 3 p.m. Cost is $47 and includes transportation, admissions, snacks, guides and insurance.

Country club to host golf classic Aug. 3

The 8th annual Clubs for Kids Golf Classic to benefit Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley is set to tee off Aug. 3 at Youngstown Country Club. Registration and lunch will begin at 11 a.m., with a shotgun start at noon. The event will conclude with a cocktail reception, dinner, presentation of prizes and a silent auction. A limited number of team sponsorships and reception-only tickets are available. Prior to the adult event, the Clubs for Kids Youth Clinic, sponsored by the Tod Family Foundation, will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. It will feature stations for young golfers in three age groups; 6-8, 9-11, and 12-14. The youth clinic will include an observation station focusing on grip, stance, posture and alignment; a hands-on chipping and pitching instruction station, and a putting contest.
