UPDATE | Woman tells police what led to Howland shooting

WARREN — The victim of a Friday-evening robbery in Howland told police she allowed three young men into her car because she had known one of them all his life and had changed his diaper as a baby.

The woman, 35, suffered a gunshot wound to the leg at a house on Shaffer Drive, across from Howland High School, as she became aware that the male she knew and the two others were now robbing her.

Two of the males, Isaiah D. Croff, 20, of East Kline Street in Girard, and Jeremiah U. Jones, 19, of Plaza Avenue Northeast in Warren, will be arraigned on aggravated robbery today in Warren Munipal Court. If convicted, each could face about 11 years in prison. The third male, Emmanuel Jones, 15, is facing the same charge in Trumbull County Juvenile Court. Police were uncertain of the familial relationship of the three but believe at least two of them are brothers.

Howland police say the victim learned that one of the three was selling firearms on social media and contacted him. He asked to meet in the parking lot of the Giant Eagle on East Market Street in Howland.

Three males approached her while she waited in the parking lot. She let them in the car to drive to their home, where they said the firearms were located, police said.

She pulled into the driveway of the home on Shaffer Drive and walked onto a step on the porch when the males started to rob her of necklace and earrings.

She heard a “pop” and realized she’d been shot in the upper thigh. The three males fled on foot toward East Market Street.
