Poland Idol seeks singers for contest

POLAND

The Poland Idol singing competition is still accepting contestants for the event, which will take place June 30 at Poland Village Hall gazebo.

Contestants can register that day between 10:30 and 11:45 a.m. The contest will begin at noon. Registration fee is $20.

There are four categories: K-fourth grade, fifth-eighth grade, high school and adults. The top three finishers in each category will receive prizes.

Dillon Francis to headline Thrival

PITTSBURGH

Electronic dance music superstar Dillon Francis will headline the Thrival Music Festival, which will take place Sept. 21 at Highmark Stadium. The lineup also includes Matt & Kim and another headliner to be named later, plus regional acts Paul Luc, Brooke Annibale, Bastard Bearded Irishmen and Mars Jackson.

McCartney readies next solo album

Paul McCartney is inviting fans on a musical journey as he prepares to release his 17th solo album.

The former Beatle, who turned 76 on Monday, announced on social media Wednesday that “Egypt Station” will be released Sept. 7. The title comes from the name of one of his paintings. It will be McCartney’s first full album since “NEW” in 2013. He has already posted the singles “I Don’t Know” and “Come On To Me.”
