Canfield Village Middle School eighth-graders were feted with a picnic to celebrate the end of their years at the school and moving onto the high school this fall on June 6.

The students were treated to a picnic lunch of pizza, hot dogs, chip, cookies and water by the PTO and eighth-grade parents. Several PTO parent volunteers helped out with the lunch and throughout the day. Erin Petro served as the chair for the event.

“This picnic provides a relaxing day for the students to spend time with each other and have some fun. We have lots of volunteer parents here today, too, helping with the picnic, which is great,” said PTO President Julie Miller.

The PTO also provided a DJ playing music for the students in the gym and a photo booth to take photos as a souvenir of their special day. As an additional treat, the students were visited by Kona Ice, which gave each student a cup of Hawaiian shaved ice, courtesy of the PTO.

“This picnic is a nice way to thank the students for four great years and send them off to high school,” said CVMS Principal Judd Rubin.

Canfield High School Principal Mike Moldovan and Canfield High School Assistant Principal David Mullane attended the picnic to meet the students they will be welcoming to the high school next year.

Several students donned Class of 2022 T-shirts, which also served as canvasses for their classmates to sign their names and write messages.
