Humperdinck will play Thomas Hall

Engelbert Humberdinck will bring his “The Man I Want To Be Tour” to the University of Akron’s E.J. Thomas Hall on July 28 at 7 p.m..
Humperdinck’s career started in ’60s with the single “Release Me,” which was on the pop music charts for 56 consecutive weeks. It was No. 1 in 11 countries.

Comedians show at Playhouse
YOUNGSTOWN
The Youngstown Playhouse will present a fundraiser performance by Comedians of Local Interest at 8 p.m. Thursday in the theater’s Moyer Room. Tickets are $15 at the door.
The Comedians of Local Interest are a Youngstown based group of stand-up comedians who perform once a month. Thursday’s show at the Playhouse, which is off Glenwood Avenue, will include Eric Thompson, Marcus Cox, Alex Kalafatis, Carlos Rivera, Jon Huff, Jenna Cintavey and Joey Purse. The show will be hosted by James McClellan, director of the Playhouse.
Quarter raffle for dog rescues

Friends of Fido (the advocacy group for the Mahoning County Dog Pound) and Every Dog Matters rescue agency will present a quarter raffle at 6 p.m. Thursday at St. Nicholas Hall, 764 Fifth St.. There will be more than 80 prizes, gift baskets, and door prizes, and vendors will be present. All proceeds will benefit the two animal rescue agencies.

Slightly Stoopid at Nelson Ledges

Nelson Ledges Quarry Park will present Slightly Stoopid on July 6, with special guests Stick Figure and Pepper. More bands will take the stage on July 7 for the weekend of music. A stage musical about the life of Michael Jackson is being prepared in hopes of a 2020 Broadway premiere. The story for the still-untitled musical will be written by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage, using Jackson’s vast catalog of songs. Tony Award winner Christopher Wheeldon will direct and choreograph.
