JUNE

Saturday — Cortland 10 Miler. Race begins and ends in front of Lakeview High School, 300 Hillman Drive, Cortland. Registration at 9 a.m. and the race begins at 9 a.m. The cost is $10 and proceeds benefit the Lakeview cross country team. Age group trophies for men and women will be awarded. 24 — Friends of Melana 5K Race and 1-Mile Walk begins at 9 a.m. in Garrettsville. Entry fee is $25 for the 5K and $15 for the 1-Mile Walk. Proceeds benefit Glioma Childhood Cancer research. JULY

4 —Stars and Stripes 5K Run registration begins at 7 a.m. at Richard Lombardo Stadium, Howland High School. The 5K starts at 8 a.m. and a kids 50-yard dash follows the conclusion of the race. Entry fee is $18 before June 27 and $20 after that date. The kids race is free. 4 — 44th annual Firecracker 4-Mile Run & Half-Mile Kids Run races begin at Canfield Village Green. Kids Run begins at 8:15 a.m. and 4-mile run begins at 8:30 a.m. Early registration is available online at www.secondsoleohio.com or by mail-in form at Second Sole Youngstown. Kids Race fee is $2.00 (no shirt) or $10 with t-shirt included. 7 — Pyma-Laker Dan Dunlap Memorial 5K and Half-Mile Fun Run. The course is the Pymatuning Valley High School cross country course on the Pymatuning Local Schools campus, 5571 state Route 7 West, Andover. Half-Mile Fun Run begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by the 5K at 9 a.m. Entry fee is $15 before June 30 and $20 on race day for runners 13 and older. 29 — The inaugural Eye Run in the Sun, a 5K Race for Vision. The race begins and ends at Austintown Township Park, 6000 Kirk Road. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The event is sponsored by Second Sole and all proceeds will benefit the local efforts of Sight for All United, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, whose mission is to provide eye care services to all individuals regardless of their ability to pay. The race is a 5K on a certified loop through the Austintown Park area. In addition, a Peachick Run/Walk for children 12 years or younger will begin at 9 a.m. The 5K race begins at 9:30 a.m. with 12 Peacock & Peahen age groups. Prizes will be given to the top three men and women in each age group. Advance registration fee: $2 for Peachick and $20 for 5K at www.secondsoleohio.com. The first 200 entries will receive a free “Proud as a Peacock” T-shirt. Race-day registration is $22 and additional t-shirts may be purchased for $8.00. AUGUST

1 — 20th annual Clipper Cross Country Series begins, with other races on Aug. 8, Aug. 15 and Aug. 22 at Columbiana High School. They are open to all ages. Distance alternates between 3K and 5K course each week. Registration begins at 6 p.m. Start time is 7 p.m. There is a $6 entry fee each week. SEPTEMBER

23 — Lordstown Apple Cider Festival 5K Race/Walk begins at 10 a.m. Advance registration is $17. Race-day registration is $20. Checks payable to Lordstown Athletic Department, 1824 Salt Springs Rd., Warren, Ohio 44481. Check-in at Lordstown Schools Track/Soccer Complex at the intersection of Route 45 and Salt Springs Road, in Lordstown. T-shirts guaranteed for all runners. Water stops, mile timers, refreshments, door prizes and local vendors will be on site.
