The Youngstown Lions Club will host its 57th annual Turtle Derby at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the gazebo area of East Water Street in conjunction with the Cruising on the River car show. The free event is open to the public and is the club’s only fundraiser of each year, raising nearly $30,000 annually for various charities in the Valley.
USO of Northern Ohio receives donation
AUSTINTOWN
The Ohio Federation of Women’s Clubs - Northeast District with Greenwood Chevrolet of Austintown recently made a donation of snacks and toiletries to support the United Service Organizations of Northern Ohio. The USO made care packages of the donated items and sent them to military service members who have been deployed to Afghanistan, Iraq and other bases around the world.
Library program to take place Monday

The Salem Public Library is sponsoring a search for “creek critters,” as part of its “Go Wild in the Park” program, at 6:30 p.m. at Eagleton Glen Recreation Area and Teegarden Covered Bridge. This event teaches about the small living creatures in Beaver Creek and the importance of valuing and protecting those creatures. Presenters will be Jason Reynolds and Joshua Emanuelson of Columbiana County Soil and Water Conservation District.

A classic movie will be shown at 2 p.m. June 25, and an adult coloring event will take place at 6 p.m. June 25. Supplies will be provided. Cat shelter to host garage sale

Library will host ‘Stitches in Time’

Salem Public Library, 821 E. Salem St., will host “Stitches in Time” from 6:30 to 8 p.m. June 20, in the Quaker Meeting Room. It is a class for anyone who enjoys knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching and more. The meeting is free and open to the public. No registration needed.
