Friends of the Mahoning River will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, at the Oak Hill Collaborative, 507 Oak Hill, Youngstown. Parking is in the rear of the building. The speaker will be a representative from Meander Water who will present information about Meander Lake as a local drinking water source.There also will be discussion about the successes of the 7th Annual RiverFest and the Inaugural Launch one week later at the new Girard dock. William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at Kravitz’s Deli, 3135 Belmont Ave., Liberty, in the meeting room. J. E. Ballantyne, community theater pioneer and author, will share his career as part of the Memories of a Lifetime presentation. He will discuss books he has written and share some of the experiences with working with Fred Rogers on “Mister Roger’s Neighborhood.” The presentation is open to the public.
