DETROIT

Victor Reyes’s RBI single keyed a four-run eighth inning and the Detroit Tigers rallied to beat the Minnesota Twins. John Hicks, Niko Goodrum and Grayson Greiner hit consecutive singles off Addison Reed (1-5) to tie the game. Joe Jimenez (3-0) pti a scoreless eighth. Shane Greene earned his 16th save.

Rays 1, Blue Jays 0

ST. PETERSBURG, FLA.

Matt Duffy’s RBI single with two outs in the ninth drove in the game’s only run in the Tampa Bay Rays’ win over the Toronto Blue Jays. Diego Castillo (1-0) pitched two innings of relief. Ryan Tepera (3-2) pitched the final 12/3 innings for the Jays. Toronto starter J.A. Happ gave up one hit and three walks in five innings.

Red Sox 5, Orioles 1

BALTIMORE

Chris Sale took a two-hitter into the seventh inning, and the Boston Red Sox beat Baltimore Orioles. Sale struck out nine, allowed one run and gave up two hits. Mookie Betts and J.D. Martinez homered for the Red Sox. Ramirez (0-1) gave up three runs and four hits over 41/3 innings, striking out six.

Mariners 8, Angels 6

SEATTLE

Mitch Haniger hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Seattle Mariners a victory over the Los Angeles Angels. Oliver Drake (0-1), Nelson Cruz and Ryon Healy also homered for Seattle. Roenis Elias (2-0) pitched two scoreless innings. Seattle’sMarco Gonzales allowed seven hits and three runs in five innings.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Brewers 1, Cuba 0

MILWAUKEE

Lorenzo Cain homered and Jhoulys Chacin combined with three relievers on a six-hitter to give the Milwaukee Brewers a win over the Chicago Cubs. Chacin (6-1) allowed four hits in six innings, striking out seven and walking four. Cory Knebel earned his sixth save. Mike Montgomery (2-2) allowed two hits in six innings.

Padres 4, Cardinals 2

ST. LOUIS

Eric Lauer carried a shutout into the sixth inning, Manuel Margot had three hits and the San Diego Padres beat the St. Louis Cardinals. Marcell Ozuna homered for the Cardinals. Lauer (3-4) gave up two runs and eight hits over 52/3 innings. Brad Hand recorded his 21st save. St. Louis starter Luke Weaver (3-6) gave up four runs and nine hits over 51/3 innings.

Marlins 5, Giants 4

MIAMI

Brian Anderson hit a game-ending sacrifice fly in the ninth inning to lift the Miami Marlins over the San Francisco Giants. Andrew McCutchen hit a two-run home run for the Giants. Drew Steckenrider (3-1) pitched a scoreless top of the ninth. Andrew Suarez allowed five hits and two runs in five innings for the Giants.

Braves 2, Mets 0

ATLANTA

Mike Soroka did not allow a hit until the seventh inning, Freddie Freeman homered and drove in both runs, and the Atlanta Braves beat the New York Mets. Soroka (2-1) gave up one hit, one walk and struck out four in 61/3 innings. Jacob DeGrom (4-2) allowed seven hits and one run and struck out seven in seven innings. Arodys Vizcaino earned his 12th save.

Rockies 7, Phillies 2

PHILADELPHIA

Ian Desmond hit a two-run homer in a five-run fourth inning, Tyler Anderson pitched seven innings and the Colorado Rockies routed the Philadelphia Phillies. Trevor Story added three hits and drove in two for the Rockies. Anderson (4-1) allowed one run and six hits. Nick Pivetta (4-6) allowed six runs on eight hits with three walks over five innings.

INTERLEAGUE

Reds 7, Royals 0

KANSAS CITY, MO.

Tyler Mahle allowed three hits while pitching into the seventh, Adam Duvall hit a ninth-inning grand slam and the Cincinnati Reds beat the Kansas City Royals. Mahle (5-6) allowed only one runner to touch second base in 61/3 innings. Royals starter Jason Hammel (2-7) allowed three runs on seven hits over 71/3 innings.

Nationals 5, Yankees 4

NEW YORK

Teenage rookie Juan Soto homered twice and drove in four runs, and the Washington Nationals beat New York. Gleyber Torres and Greg Bird hit a solo homers and Giancarlo Stanton had a two-out RBI single. Justin Miller (4-0) struck out four in 12/3 innings. Sean Doolittle earned his 17th save.
