Inspiring Minds golf outing planned

The seventh annual Inspiring Minds Celebrity Golf Outing will take place at 9 a.m. Friday at Avalon Lakes Golf Course. 1 American Way. Deryck Toles, former NFL player and founder of the nonprofit organization Inspiring Minds, will be in attendance. Event participants include several influential members of business, sports and political arenas. Proceeds will benefit Inspiring Minds.

Museum to host special display Sunday

The Salem Historical Society Museum, 208 S. Broadway, will offer free admission for fathers, if accompanied by a family member, from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. H.O.W. gets new location

YOUNGSTOWN

The Helping Other Women organization no longer operates its furniture and appliance giveaway program due to the sale of the rented warehouse. The new location is 1555 Belmont Ave. At this time, hours of operation are limited. Volunteers are needed. For information, contact 234-719-2293.

Society accepting grant applications

To help reduce the out-of-pocket cost of supplies for special education teachers and to show appreciation for those who help children on the autism spectrum and with other special needs, the Autism Society of Mahoning Valley created its Autism Teacher Mini Grant Program in 2017. Applications for the 2018 grants are being accepted. Awards will be given in three denominations, $500, $250 and $100 to applicants from public and private schools in Mahoning, Trumbull or Columbiana counties. Italian Fest seeks nominations

The Greater Youngstown Italian Fest is seeking nominations for its Italian Man and Italian Woman of the Year. If selected, the nominee would be introduced in person at the opening ceremonies downtown at 5 p.m. Aug. 3.
