Brickman coming to Stambaugh

YOUNGSTOWN

Jim Brickman, the Grammy-nominated pianist and songwriter, will bring his Christmas concert tour to Stambaugh Auditorium on Dec. 20.

The 7:30 p.m. will include carols, classics and original songs in the holiday spirit.

Tickets range from $15 top $45 and go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at stambaughauditorium.com, by phone at 330-259-0555 and at the Stambaugh box office, 1000 Fifth Ave.

Brickman has six gold albums to his credit and has earned Grammy nominations for his albums “Peace” (Best Instrumental), and “Faith” (Best New Age Album). He has collaborated with Martina McBride, Carly Simon, Lady Antebellum, Michael W. Smith, Michael Bolton, Kenny Rogers, Olivia Newton-John and more.

Chorus to present concert-picnic

CANFIELD

Just Friends, a community chorus directed by Jodine Pilmer, will present a picnic-concert at 1 p.m. July 1 at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St. (state Route 62). The combination of picnic food and inspiring songs is just what is needed to get in the 4th of July spirit.

Just Friends has been performing at local assisted living and nursing homes for the past nine months, and the picnic-concert will raise funds for its efforts. Tickets are $20 ($12 for the concert only) and must be purchased in advance by calling 330-533-8789.

The event will start at 1 p.m. with hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, fruit, dessert and beverages. The hour-long concert will begin at 2 p.m.

YSU professor’s art on display at museum

AKRON

Dragana Crnjak, a Youngstown State University associate professor of art, is one of three artists whose work is featured in an exhibition titled “Frameworks” on display through Sept. 9 at the Akron Art Museum.

Crnjak created two paintings and a wall drawing for the exhibit, which spotlights regional artists for their contributions to contemporary culture.
