Rodriguez leads Crosscutters over Scrappers

Edwin Rodriguez carried the Williamsport Crosscutters to a 4-1 win over the Mahoning Valley Scrappers on Monday night at Eastwood Field.
Rodriguez gave the Crosscutters a 3-1 lead with a two-run triple in the eighth inning off Scrappers reliever Adoni Kery. Jesus Henriquez hit a sacrifice fly later in the inning for an insurance run.
Williamsport took a 1-0 lead in the first on Rodriguez’s double to left field, scoring Madison Stokes.
Henry Pujols tied the game at 1 with his third home run of the season in the third.
Kery allowed three runs on three hits and a walk in three innings. He struck out two.
Scrappers starter Zach Draper allowed one run on five hits and a walk while striking our three in six innings.
The Scrappers and Crosscutters will play the second game of their three-game series today. First pitch is 7:05 p.m.
