It wasn’t a usual day at Canfield Dollar General on June 30, as the store hosted a Traveling Petting Zoo fundraiser featuring exotic animals. Dwayne and Beth Felger of Felger Exotic Animals brought several of their animals for children and adults alike to pet and hold. All proceeds from the petting zoo will benefit Canfield Operation Blessing.

The Felgers donated their services and brought with them Emmy the kangaroo, Shadow the month-old donkey, Snickers the Lionhead bunny, Captain Jack Sparrow the 15-month-old fully grown marmoset monkey, a Nigerian dwarf goat, fancy geckos, a ball python, a golden knee tarantula and an Africal bull frog, also known as a pixie toad.

Canfield Operation Blessing Director Julie Kercher thanked the Felgers and Sherri Lupole for all their help in raising funds for the organization.

“We owe a huge thank you to Sherri for setting this up for the second year. She has been so good to us and this is such a nice thing to do. I’d also like to thank Dwayne Felger for being so generous in sharing his wonderful menagerie with us. His animals are amazing. I‘ve never seen a kangaroo up close until today,” Kercher said.

The money raised by the Traveling Petting Zoo will be used to purchase food to be distributed by Canfield Operation Blessing.
