The Mill Creek park Live! At the Morley concert series kicked off June 20 at the Judge Leo P. Morley Pavilion in the Wick Recreation Area.

The series is sponsored by The Summit 90.7 radio station who both promotes the concerts and books the bands.

“We play them on the station all the time,” said Jake Capezzuto who currently interns at the station, “It’s a cool way to get local bands out there.”

The first concert featured two local bands, By Light We Loom, an indie pop band, and Spirit of the Bear, an indie rock band.

A large crowd gathered for the event, including Jennifer Summers, who knew Shanna Delaney, the lead singer of By Light We Loom, when they were in college at Kent State together.

“She was my first college roommate and we were already visiting from Michigan so we thought why not,” Summers said, “It’s such a cool atmosphere and such a fun event to come out to.”

Delaney and her husband Eric Ling make up the band of By Light We Loom, both are school teachers in the Akron area.

The second band to play, Spirit of the Bear, is composed of James Harker, Danny Svenson, Ethan Schwendeman, Mike Perorazio and Jamie Vitullo.
