Family fun day at Arms Museum

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society is presenting a series of free afternoons of family fun, featuring hands-on activities, games, crafts, dress-up clothing and more.

The next open house will Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Ave., with the topic “Let’s Play,” which will examine sports and games with an eye on Youngstown history. For information, call 330-743-2589 or go to mahoninghistory.org.

Serbian Day Picnic at Holy Trinity

The annual Serbian Day Picnic of Youngstown will take place Sunday at the Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church hall and pavilion (rain or shine), 53 Laird Ave., from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The gathering will include traditional foods for sale including chicken paprikash, roasted lamb and pork, kolbasi, sausages, homemade strudel, and donuts. There will be music will Night Owls Tamburitzans from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and by the Cleveland Serbs with Djuro Klipa from 3-8 p.m. A folklore dance performance by the children of Holy Trinity Church will take place at 6 p.m. There will be activities and games for children. Comedy night at Calvin Center

The Comedians of Local Interest will present a standup comedy night at 8 p.m. Thursday at Calvin Center, 755 Mahoning Ave. Admission is $5. The show is recommended for those 18 and up. Performing will be Carlos Rivera, Jenna Cintavey, Becky Miller, Craig Latchaw, Vaughn Wesley and Alex Kalafatis.
