Thiel programs earn national recognition

The business and education programs at Thiel College have been recognized as fields of distinction by Colleges of Distinction. Annually, Colleges of Distinction recognize colleges and universities and select programs.

To qualify for recognition by Colleges of Distinction, colleges and universities must show results across four distinctions: engaged students, great teaching, vibrant community and successful outcomes.

High-school counselors and educators nominate institutions, and each school is evaluated based on student engagement, empowerment and innovation.

Karagosian joins OU foundation

Ohio University President M. Duane Nellis has named Nico Karagosian as its new vice president of university advancement and president and CEO of The Ohio University Foundation.

Karagosian has more than 20 years of experience and comes to Ohio University most recently from the University of Cincinnati.

Grove City College posts promising job numbers for grads

GROVE CITY, PA

Six months after graduation, 96 percent of Grove City College’s class of 2017 is either working or pursuing graduate studies.

The college’s career outcomes data remains among the best in the country for Christian liberal arts colleges. The office reports 83 percent of the class is employed and 13 percent are attending graduate or professional school.

The college’s 96 percent overall rate outpaces the national average of 81 percent within six months of graduation, according to the National Association of Colleges and Employers.

The average starting salary for alumni is $50,700, according to PayScale. The online salary tracking website reports mid-career alumni earning an average of $101,200. Those numbers led PayScale to name the college a Best Value school and The Princeton Review to include Grove City College in its recent “Colleges that Pay You Back” edition.
