v Mount Carmel Society Festival, 5-11 p.m.: It would be hard to find a better reason to visit Lowellville than to take in this large and fun Italian festival on East Washington Street.

v “The Addams Family,” 8 p.m.: An kooky midsummer monster musical ($18, $16 for seniors and students, $14 for children 12 and under) presented by Kent State University Trumbull Theater, 4314 Mahoning Ave., Warren; 330-675-8887.

v “A Wrinkle in Time,” 7:30 p.m.: A magical family tale ($13, $10 for senior citizens, $8 for children) that was made into a movie earlier this year, opening at Hopewll Theatre, 702 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown; 330-746-5455.

v MAZE, featuring Frankie Beverly, 8 p.m.: The jazzy and funky R&B band is back in action and visiting Powers Auditorium, 260 W. Federal St., Youngstown.

v Kids Fun and Safety Day, 6-9 p.m.: Police, fire and health officials, as well as local youth organizations, will gather at Woodworth Park, for a fun gathering with a clown, pony rides, petting zoo, a bounce around and more. The park is south of Western Reserve Road, less than a mile east of Market Street (turn south on Luther Avenue).

“Quantico” (8 p.m., ABC): Conor Devlin has plans of his own when he plots revenge and returns to his home country, Ireland; meanwhile, the team unknowingly finds themselves as a pawn in his plans.

Polka dances at Avon Oaks

GIRARD

A series of Sunday afternoon polka days have been scheduled at Avon Oaks Ballroom, 1401 N. State St. The first will be Sunday with Polish style dance band The Boys.

Arts council term renewed for Naffah

COLUMBUS

Gov. John R. Kasich has reappointed Dr. Farid Naffah of Cortland to the Ohio Arts Council board for a term ending July 1, 2023.

Dr. Naffah is a gastroenterologist in private practice at Avamar Gastroenterology Inc. in Warren.

Born in Beirut, Lebanon, he graduated from Columbia University and remained in New York City to earn his M.D. from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Dr. Naffah joined the staff of the Cleveland Clinic in 1988 before entering private practice. He has published several articles and book chapters, lectured in the United States and abroad, and appeared in The Best Doctors in America, in addition to his contributions as a local arts philanthropist.
