Jake Snyder, an incoming senior at Poland Seminary High School, has been selected as a senator for American Legion Boys Nation in the Washington, D.C. area, July 20-27.

Boys Nation is an annual American Legion program that includes civic training, leadership development and a focus on Americanism. Snyder previously served as Chief Justice at Ohio Boys State, which had roughly 1,200 participants. Snyder will be joined by Chase Fleece of Kenton High School in representing Ohio at Boys Nation.

At Poland Seminary, Snyder has served on the student council, including as class treasurer his junior and senior years. He is a member of National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society and has been on the high honor roll. Snyder is a student ambassador for Poland Schools Foundation; a member of Spanish, yoga and psychology clubs; runs track; and plays golf, earning second team All Northeast Ohio District honors. He is also a youth elder and serves on the mission committee at Poland Presbyterian Church.

A resident of Poland, Snyder hopes to attend Yale University to pursue a career as a private attorney or judge.
