Local boxers is lecture topic

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society’s next Bites and Bits of History lunch program will be noon Thursday at the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., downtown, with Craig Snyder, a former professional boxer, who will discuss his book “The Boxers of Youngstown Ohio: Boxing Capital of the World.”
Snyder will discuss the history of boxing and its impact on local culture. His new book is a compilation of exploits by professional boxers that details their lives. Copies will be available to purchase.
Attendees can bring a lunch, or visit Overture for a $6 Bites and Bits Lunch Special. Call the restaurant at 330-744-9900 to place an order. Coffee, pop and water are available for purchase at the center.

Young Historians Camp registration
YOUNGSTOWN
There is still time to register for the Mahoning Valley Historical Society’s Young Historians Camp, July 30 to Aug. 3, for children age 12 to 15.
The camp dives deeper into local history as participants work like true historians. Camps run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Cost is $90 for MVHS members and $115 for nonmembers. Go to mahoninghistory.org for application forms and camp registration forms. Call 330-743-2589 for information.
