Dean Austalosh of Campbell won the Northern Ohio PGA Junior Golf event for boys ages 16-19 on Friday at Fox Den Golf Course.

Austalosh shot a 70, a stroke better than Andrew Wyss of Canton. Jimmy Graham of Warren tied for 8th with a 77 and Keegan Butler of Canfield tied for 11th with a 79.

In the boys 11-15 event, Micahel Porter of McDonald shot an 83 to finish 16th. Poland’s Rocco Turner was 29th with a 95 and Warren’s Ethan Huly was 35th with 108.

Lisbon’s Samantha Tinsley shot an 82 to win the girls 16-19 event, two strokes better than Akron’s Madison Justice and Youngstown’s Sydney Heinbaugh.

Youngstown’s Hadley Spielvogel and Poland’s Carly Ungaro tied for sixth with 87. Boardman’s Jenna Vivo shot an 88 to tie for 10th.

In the girls 11-15 event, Jayne Bernard of Youngstown shot a 95 to finish 8th.

For boys 8-10, Poland’s Angelo Rinaldi shot a 40 to tie Chesterland’s Dylan Phillips for first. Poland’s Dante Turner was a stroke back while Austintown’s Braeden Sallee tied for fourth with 42.

For girls 8-11, Canfield’s Alex Conley won with 43, one stroke better than Alliance’s Zoe Mort. Canfield’s Aubree Philibin was sixth with 61.

16-U Class B finale to resume tonight

The decisive Game 5 of the 16-U Class B championship series was suspended by rain Sunday night.

Astro Falcons lead Baird Brothers 5-1 in the bottom of the third inning. Baird Brothers was batting with one out and runners at first and second base at the time of the suspension.

Play is scheduled to resume today at 6 p.m. on Field No. 1 at Cene Park.

Pacquiao wins 60th victory

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia

Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao clinched his 60th victory Sunday with a seventh-round knockout of Argentinian Lucas Matthysse, his first stoppage in nine years, that will help revive his career.

Pacquiao, 39, said his “convincing victory” in the World Boxing Association welterweight title fight, his 12th championship win, showed age isn’t a barrier.

He rebounded from his disappointing loss last year to Australian Jeff Horn and his victory could extend his boxing career that had taken a backseat to his political life as a Filipino senator.

“This is it. I am back in boxing,” Pacquiao said. “I am not done. I’m still there.”

“It’s just a matter of time. You have to rest and get it back and that’s what I did.”

Former goaltender Emery drowns

HAMILTON, ONT.

Retired NHL goaltender Ray Emery, who helped the Ottawa Senators reach the final in 2007 and won the Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2013, drowned in his hometown of Hamilton, Ontario. He was 35.

Hamilton Police said Emery was identified as the victim of a swimming accident Sunday morning. Staff sergeant Paul Evans said police received a call just after 6 a.m. that an adult swimmer did not surface and that the Niagara Police assisted in the recovery effort.

Emery’s body was recovered just before 3 p.m. Sunday. Hamilton Police said a cause of death would be confirmed after a post-mortem.

Nicknamed “Razor” for his aggressive style, Emery played parts of 11 seasons with the Ottawa Senators, Philadelphia Flyers, Chicago Blackhawks and Anaheim Ducks from 2003-2015. He helped the Senators reach the Stanley Cup Final in 2007 and won it as a backup with the Blackhawks in 2013.

Emery battled avascular necrosis, the same serious hip ailment that ended two-sport star Bo Jackson’s career. He and fellow Blackhawks netminder Corey Crawford combined to win the William Jennings Trophy for allowing the league’s fewest goals in 2013.
